†     Acting for the Common Good

“Just like many dioceses do in the United States, you’re working in a community and with them-it’s a hand-in-glove relationship.” – Sister Janet Korn, CRS delegation to Kenya, speaking on CRS partnerships

Sometimes serving our poorest brothers and sisters around the world means taking action in our own backyard. What begins as a journey to the farthest reaches of the globe may end closer to home than we might have originally thought.

That’s what happened to Sister Janet Korn. After years serving some of our poorest brothers and sisters overseas-including through a trip to Kenya with CRS-Sister Janet enacted those lessons she learned in her own home diocese of Rochester, New York. Read her full story to find out how she spoke out on behalf of those who had no voice.

With our Lenten journey behind us, next steps are important. What will our next step be to continue walking in solidarity with the poorest and most marginalized around the world? How will we work to build the kingdom of God in the here and now?
